Michelle Garcia
Born in Houston, TX, Michelle Garcia began dancing at the age of 2, training in all styles of dance. She grew up training at various places in the Houston area including, Lesa’s Dance Sations, Houston’s High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and right here at Topflight Dance Center, where she was a founding company member for 4 years. She attended multiple summer dance programs growing up, such as, The Art of Ballet (Berlin Germany), Boston Ballet School SDP, and American Ballet Theatre.
Ms. Garcia won numerous of prizes and scholarships at competitions/conventions throughout her years of competing. She also received prestigious awards including, Texas Young Masters (2012), and first place in contemporary, representing the USA, at the Certamen Internacional de Danza in Barcelona, Spain (2014). She has performed in many contemporary works by renowned choreographers such as Andy Pellick, Jon Burdine, Troy Powell, and Carlos dos Santos.
Ms. Garcia found a love for choreography at a young age. She has won numerous of awards for her choreography at competitions such as New York City Dance Alliance, Showbiz Talent, Showstopper Competition, and the Young Master’s Program, and has had her choreography showcased on international stages with the International Ballet of Houston tour in Ireland. Currently, Ms. Garcia works with a small group of drill team girls in the Katy, TX area where she is the founder of an upcoming small group known as 1440 Dance Ensemble. She is also currently studying at the University of Houston, pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching and Learning (Early Education), where she continues to practice her love for interacting and shaping young minds.
